Ancient Islamic Kufic Agate ring seal, c. 8th-10th Century AD. Legend: "Bin Issa ibn Mohammad". 17x12mm, excellent condition. These ring seals were custom made for the individual owners, mostly people of high net worth and in important positions, with their names (first and last) and sometimes titles engraved in Kufic legends. These seals that were then placed in rings and used to mark or stamp official letters or documents. Because they were almost always placed in men's rings, they followed the same oval-shape design.. Ancient Islamic grenade! Near East, Islamic Period, c. 7th-9th Century AD. A terracotta ‘grenade’ in the form of a stylized fish. The body of the weapon has a fin-like backside and a small tail, raised and incised bands with rippling decorate the back. The lip is very thick with a narrow neck to tie a stopper.
